Sidelined in Wiltshire.

GWR ‘Networker Turbo’ Class 165 waits patiently in the sunny siding for its turn to form the 14.57 shuttle to Newbury. Just operating as a two car unit, it represents and almost embodies a bygone era, when train travel out here in the sticks was less frenetic than today. I always refer to them as Annie and Clarabel. Bedwyn station marked the edge of the Western Region London Area. Yards down the track, the line was controlled by Bristol. And I guess that’s why the trains from London still end here, and not further down the line - That and the availability of a suitable siding and crossover.
