[Painting] Introspection
The last of the 3D painting in this collection explores the a different emotion of the colour purple.
Purple, or violet, was previously used in the Gated Haven to represent wealth, independence and royalty. However, the colour has been used in this painting due to its spiritual properties. Purple has been observed to encourage deep contemplation or meditation, and it has been used in this painting to motivate viewers to look inside themselves and think about who they really are.
The symbol in the middle is something that I created for this painting. The outer ring is an octagon. From afar, the octagon might look like a circle, representing a life or person in Maori culture. However, when looked up close, it is obvious that the shape is an octagon. This is to represent the artificial persona that many put on just for the people around to see.
The eight arrows pointing to the middle represent the introspection. It shows that one should move away from the artificial mask and contemplate what truly represents oneself or makes one happy.
On the whole, the painting emphasises the importance of introspection, and encourages one to show and express who one really is. Only with that can one be peaceful and content.
