Granite Cliffs of Land's End

Another view of the cliffs at Land's End. Granite forms the backbone of Cornwall and here at Land's End there are two types which have responded to hundreds of thousands of years of wild weather and dramatic seas. The coarser granite and smoother granite crystals form varying layers and create what we now see as piles of rocks on the cliffs. Land's End is said to have a mild and frost-free climate, but on this day, like many days on the west coast of Cornwall, there was a combination of fog and high winds with patches of sunshine making the day more pleasant.
