Stoneywell

Stoneywell is an Arts and Crafts house, designed in 1899 by Ernest Grimston for his brother. He wanted the house to look organic, sitting amongst the natural rocky outcrops of the Charnwood Forest. It's therefore built on 7 different levels as it fits into the hillside.

Originally it was intended as a summer house for them to get away from Leicester, but it became the family home from the 1950s. It was also originally thatched, but that was replaced with slate after a fire in 1939.

In 2023 the BBC filmed the series "Make it at Market" here.
