Pride in Derby

Outside the current Derby City Council house is a clock which was erected following the a major refurbishment of the building in 2012. Made by Smith of Derby, there are actually two clocks that share the same dial and hands design and reflects the 1930s style of the building. This is one, the second clock is suspended from the ceiling inside. Smiths clockmakers were established in Derby in 1856.

Fitting therefore that the ram next to it is called "Pride in Derby" which for me has the dual meaning of cultural pride, celebrating LGBT and social acceptance but I also see it as city pride.

Between May and August 2021 the Derby Ram trail hit Derby. 30 uniquely painted 5ft high rams appeared dotted around the city, each by a different artist. At the end of the project they were auctioned off to raise money for Derby Museums Trust.
