Bestwood Engine House and Headstock

Bestwood engine house is unique as it is the only twin cylinder vertical steam engine standing on it's original site. The building was erected in 1873 in the Italian Gothic style. The 3 storey winding engine was also commissioned in 1873 and could be operated by 1 driver.
