Perception of Beauty

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Date : 18/06/13

Size: 95 x 45cm

The painting is a response piece to society as it depicts the concerns about self-image and expectations to have attractive teeth. In the 21st century due to our perception of beauty, it is continuously distorted because of our expectations to how we are supposed to look.

The lines and traces are used to create a movement and patterns are creating an organic form of subject matter. The arrangements of this piece allow the viewer to have an abstracted interpretation of the concept. The simple colour palette and texture allows the viewer to dive more in depth with their contribution to this concern.
