HMAS Supply

Three more views of the tanker off Birchgrove getting ready for the breakers in December 1986 .

It was not uncommon for ex RAN ships to spend a week or two with a smaller ship repairer (in this case I think Jubilee Engineering) to be made safe for the tow .

This ship was built by Harland & Wolff , Belfast in 1955 as RFA Tide Austral as seen here

and took the name Supply in 1962 .

She had paid off at the end of 1985 to make way for the upcoming HMAS Success . Now , that ship is to be replaced by a new HMAS Supply , built in Spain . Time flies !
