Berkeley Park 7-25-2025
by YazObara
On Friday, July 25, Seiichi, Kazue, and I hiked to Berkeley Park. When we arrived at Sunrise at 7 am, Mount Rainier stood in full view, its summit shining brilliantly. The trail was quiet and uncrowded, and wildflowers were at their peak.
We had planned to eat lunch on a rock beside a stream, but when we arrived around 10:30 a.m., someone was already sitting there. Instead, we found a spot near a talus field farther down the trail.
By noon, clouds began gathering around Rainier’s summit, and by the time we left at 2:40 p.m., the mountain was completely hidden. It was a long hike—over eight miles—but with cool temperatures, stunning views, and vibrant flowers, we ended the day tired yet deeply satisfied.
