Syzygy Needle
This photo was taken in July of 2023. We knew that the full moon was going to be red and low on the horizon so I wanted to see if I could line up the moon with the Space Needle. We found the spot and the time and when we showed up we were in for a shock. Clearly, we were not the only people who figured out this event! There had to be a hundred people there. Fortunately, I was able to position myself early enough that I was get the composition that I wanted. I either wanted the moon at the top of the spire, or I wanted it to sit in the "bowl" of the top platform. I was unable to get high enough for it to be at the top of the spire, so I went for the bowl look. I was super close to getting it perfect, but its just a little off. The moon is centered, but just a little too low so its just a little below the bowl. Also, the next time that this becomes possible, I will try to make sure the buildings are not behind the disc portion of the Space Needle, but that will depend on the moon. At the end of the day, I am still very happy with this image and it was a lot of fun to plan out and create. I hope you all can enjoy it as well!
