Symbiotic

The smoke and fireworks are each the reason for the others existence.

The brightness, contrast of this image has been heavily manipulated; but the objects are exactly as they came from the camera. This is a full frame wide angle shot. (focal length = 27mm in 35mm format.)

I have been working on smoke for years now and this is hands down the best quality I have gotten. The dandelion burst with it's pinpoint center is something I've never seen before.

Other unusual things about the photo fascinate me. The exposure time was 1.6 seconds. I have no idea if the dandelion burst occurred during the beginning, the end, or throughout the exposure. The smoke (apparently left over from bursts before the shutter opened) seems to be illuminated by a light source from the location of the single dandelion burst. However the color of that light is red and the dandelion burst is mostly yellow… Where did all the red light come from?
