Jellyfish tripod capacity

Members of the Sony RX100M3 group have been discussing the weight capacity of the Jellyfish tripod & micro ball head which are each rated at 9 oz.

Here you see them supporting 18 oz. (Canon Powershot stacked on top of RX100M3) This does require tightening the tension screw on the bottom*, or the legs will splay until the tension screw reaches the surface and turns the tripod into a 4 point support. I tried putting two pounds (the capacity of the scale in the photo) on each leg (total six pounds) and two pounds sideways on the ball head. I detected no signs of stress by eyeball or touch. (Hardly accurate but good enough to satisfy me.)

I wouldn't use it on the edge of a six story parking structure; but I think the 9 oz. rating is conservative.

*Any U.S. coin between a quarter and a penny can tighten the tripod screw. A jewelers screwdriver is required to tighten the micro ball-joint screw,
