while visiting zimbabwe the opportunity arose to meet the king of beasts up close are personal. the presence of this male lion is really humbling and really puts into perspective there dominance out on the african plains.
this was a 20 month old lion being bred as part of a lion conservation project, it literally had a month left before being realeased back into the wild. i had not realised how much there numbers have dwindled or how endangered they had become. the work being done at this conservation centre was invaluble in ensuring future generation will be able to at least see this magnificent animal.
the lion adopted a posture which was perfect for the camera a few seconds later his was on the move again to find shelter from the seering heat.
