Primary function is that of a continuous digging machine in large-scale open-pit mining operations, removing thousands of tons of overburden a day.

 

Took my breath away to be this close and see the enormous size.

 

The Port of Newcastle here in New South Wales is recognized as the world's largest coal export port.
