Huntress waits by the water

Living typically near water, preying on small fish and aquatic insects.

Seen here, on the banks of the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania.

Commonly known as fishing spiders, these arachnids can run with great speed over water in pursuit of a meal.

This is a female. I've labelled her here as both Dolomedes tenebrosus and Dolomedes scriptus as input from members of iNaturalist indicate it could be either, given their similarity of markings.

Body length 25 mm.
