Medieval All Saints England
I had discovered that a lot of my ancestors were born in the Hertfordshire village of St. Paul's Walden, an hour north of central London. It lies within such beautiful countryside. I visited there during a trip home to the UK.
Indeed, some family members lived in a house right next to the entrance to All Saints Church seen here. I have some wonderful old pictures of weddings at the church in the early 20th century. I also found family members buried in the churchyard. It was a glorious day to visit. Winter yes, but bright and sunny without a cloud in the sky.
During my research, I was surprised to discover that the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon was baptized at this church - the mansion of St. Paul's Walden Bury within the area, is owned by the Bowes-Lyon family.
All Saints is a 14th/15th century medieval church, with later additions.
