Quick, rough sketches made with oil pastels and graphite pencil on drawing paper.
I rarely use oil pastels and this series is an experiment. Some things I like about this medium, others I don't. I like the way they blend, for example, especially after rubbing over them hard with a piece of tissue paper. I don't really like their oily thickness when applied with pressure but that may just be because I really don't know how to use them well.
These sketches may eventually become larger paintings. They are not actually finished, they are more like works in progress.
