Switching the Durbin Yard

With the arrival of a photo charter train in the yard at Durbin, WV, the crews of Cass Scenic Railroad Heisler #6 and the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad's center-cab diesel begin their switching moves to get both the photo freight and the passenger train properly configured for their trip back to Cass. In the foreground, the 90-ton, former Meadow River Heisler #6 moves in, to couple onto the passenger train just ahead of her, while the diesel waits for her turn to head out on the main and put the freight on a siding so the passenger train can depart first.

This image was captured during a November 2025 photo shoot on the Cass Scenic Railroad, which featured Heisler #6 hauling a freight consist from Cass to Durbin, WV.
