Kennebec Central #4 in great light

Here's an afternoon image of Kennebec Central Railroad Locomotive #4 as she switches onto the runaround track in the yards of the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum in Alna, ME. The WW&F Museum has a strong connection to the KCRR, which went out of business back in 1929. The locomotive that is now WW&F #9 served the KCRR as their #4 from 1924 until the line closed in 1929. This particular image depicts WW&F #9 lettered in the livery of her previous owner for the June 2025 "Road to Togus" event at the WW&F Museum. The livery depicted here is accurate down to the original Sandy River number plate on the smokebox. When this engine came to the KCRR from the Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad, the new owners changed the lettering on the cab and tank, and removed the number from the SR&RL number plate, but historic photos depict that plate, still carrying the Sandy River name, while in service on the KCRR.
