Morning yard moves
With morning servicing complete, the crew of East Broad Top Railroad Locomotive #16 "Nick" backs down from the north yard switch in Rockhill Furnace, PA to pick up a cut of loaded coal hoppers, freshly delivered from the mines and destined for interchange with the Pennsylvania Railroad up in Mt. Union. On the adjacent track, little sister Locomotive #12 "Millie" sits cold this day, awaiting a tow to the servicing area near the roundhouse, where she will get a boiler wash.
Of course, in 2023, there will be no boiler wash for "Millie." She's currently last on the list of the 5 remaining EBT steamers, which are awaiting restoration to operating condition.
