Knoxville: City of Bridges
Southern Railway Consolidation #154 chugs slowly across a small inlet on the Tennessee River, heading for the Knoxville water tank, which is just ahead. Behind and beside her are a plethora of bridges. With the wide and mighty Tennessee River pretty much running an east-west line right through downtown Knoxville, you almost can't go anywhere without crossing a bridge. Just in this view alone, there are a pair of railroad bridges, a pair of highway bridges and just to the left, that green bridge is actually for "greenway" foot traffic. Although this view of the train is pretty much head-on, astute observers will note the very pronounced condensation line on the side of the tender. With the humidity pretty high this day, and the water pretty cold, the crew really didn't need to dip the tank to know how much water they had.
