Mine for a Moment

When in California recently, I went for a walk with my mother-in-law and as we were walking, I picked up this leaf from the ground. She asked me why, and I said, “to photograph it.” She then told me how much she enjoyed walking with me when I had my camera along (even though that was the reason we kept stopping) because it made her see the beauty in things she didn’t normally notice. She said it had opened up a whole new world to her, even when she was out alone. That makes me happy!
I then walked to the nearest park and placed the leaf on a flat picnic table and took a few shots…a moment later, the wind came along and it was gone forever. But it was mine for a moment…
