Spider Moult

Shedded skin of a spider. Amazing to see the eyes (on the right). Looks like they're attached by a thread. Hope this isn't making you feel sick! Actually, those are probably not the eyes, but the front pincer things - the mouth.

 

So, it crawls out through the top of its head/body. Eek! A hole for each leg! Suppose that's obvious really. I bet this would interest people who design mouldings! The body is maybe 4mm across - pretty small.

 

This has been on the carpet outside my bathroom for a week or two. Thought it was worth a closer look! Very brittle. It lost two legs just in me moving it onto a piece of paper.

 

I used a diffused remote flash to light this, plus some white paper, above and to the side, to bounce the flash around a bit.
