2016 - Year in Review
Greetings all! I believe that phrase is now my go-to introduction for all my posts ;)
To start off, 2016 has been an amazing year full of fun contests, LEGO conventions, and more. Some of my personal highlights include:
1) BFVA, where I had the chance to collaborate with multiple InnovaLUG members for our Ye Old Merry Battleground Display. I got to hang out and meet with a lot of awesome people, including several InnovaLUG members (obviously), Simon, Gary, Joshua and his brother Daniel, and Sam.
2) BFNJ. While it wasn't as exciting as BFVA (less people and events) I did manage to win a Brickee for my Ishikawa Dojo! Additionally, I was able to go with a few acquaintances who are just beginning to enter the online LEGO-sharing world.
3) I had several creations blogged on multiple sites including Brothers Brick, Bricknerd, and Tiles or Studs.
4) The multiple contests that I entered. One notable highlight was Nuju Metru's Dragon Building Contest, since it challenged me to build something outside my "comfort-zone."
5) The Passion Week collaborative between me and my brother, David. Inspired by the various Harry Potter vignettes, I decided it would be neat to create the Passion Week in a similar fashion. Of course, I decided this a bit late, and asked David if he would be fine with doing half of it. Thankfully, he said yes.
6) InnovaLUG. I thoroughly enjoyed building for each of our various Flash Mocs and Collabs. Additionally, each person in this group is fun, friendly, and is a talented builder.
Overall, it's been a good year, with a total of 19 builds. My most popular build this year, and actually overall, is my Bespin Duel creation, which has (at the time of this write-up) 241 faves and surpassed my previous most popular build, which was also a Star Wars duel creation.
Looking to 2017, it is a bit sad. I am now starting full time college classes, which will mean less time for building. Luckily, I am able to do it all online, which means I can stay home with my bricks! Hopefully, I will still be able to build here and there and complete several unfinished creations. Thanks to all in the online community for your feedback in my creations, in addition to giving me the pleasure of looking at all the awesome creations you build! Have a great 2017!
