Scorberg
"Prometheus"
I saw this last week and I've got to say it was pretty damn good. Granted, the screenplay (written by Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts) good have been a little better. The dialogue was the most hackneyed of the entire script but the narrative and overarching story was not too bad. But, aside from an ok script, Ridley Scott brilliantly directed this. This was a perfect example of directors salvaging scripts. If Scott didn't do this film, I think it would've been forgotten about. Scott has returned to an antiquated form seen in his "Alien" and "Blade Runner" days; this strange return is heightened by the fact that almost all of his previous films have been dramas and not so much genred films like "Prometheus". But, "Prometheus" on the flip side has a dramatic touch to it, so Scott's directing styles compliment each other. The cinematography is also brilliant, shot (and on the Red camera too) by Dariusz Wolski.
I suggest seeing this film for its entertainment and subtly latent art. Also, if one likes Scott in this rare form they will have to wait a while because next he is doing a hardcore drama/thriller "The Counselor". What is even more fascinating about the project is that it is penned, and his first script too, by Cormac McCarthy, the novelist who wrote "No Country For Old Men" and "The Road" amongst many other brilliant pieces. So if we think Scott is in rare form with "Prometheus", I think he'll double it up with "The Counselor"
