Striped Ladybird - Micraspis frenata
This is the result of some playing around I've been doing with a cheap 18-55 mm kit lens reversed on my d610.
The Exif data on this one is all wrong. Its showing what the camera is programmed to show when it doesn't know what lens it has on it.
This one was shot with the reversed lens set at about 24 mm and the aperture set at 'medium' by wedging the control lever open with a bit of cardboard. I used the pop-up flash to light the beetle.
Its possible to get extremely close with this technique, but the lack of aperture control means that the viewfinder gets very dark, which makes it very difficult to frame the shot.
I think I can do much better than this, but I thought this wasn't a bad start.
