this Oak is said to be older than the nation - America. It's located on the property of the Brompton Home in Fredericksburg Virginia. The home sets on a hill above a stone lined road called "sunken road", which was a fortified strip where the Confederate army stationed themselves and gave the Union army a major defeat. Robert E Lee used the home as his command center during this phase of the Civil War. Today the home houses the President of the University of Mary Washington.
