Light Rolls

I check the surf forecast every day as I just love photographing the ocean. It is the most wonderful feeling to sit for hours in the morning with my monopod on a beach with Vivaldi in my ears with big beautiful surf rolling in. As I sit there I never know whats happening next and what shape and type of wave is going to come in. Here in Bronte we are blessed to have the sun rise in the east behind the waves which means you can capture the most glorious light coming through for up to 2/3 hours after sunrise.

Anybody who photographs waves knows and understands that you can take tens of thousands of clicks a year and maybe end up with 10/12 good wave shots. A lot of the time I leave them marinating for weeks and months on end. I come home and my eyes are full of surf and salt and I need to step away for a while and then return.

With this wave that I took in September last year I have come back to it numerous times and played around with it in lightroom/photoshop/nik software for hours on end. And finally yesterday I arrived at the place where I felt happy with the edit.

I wish I had more time to spend on flickr to interact with my pals on here as you guys have all been such an influence on my photography journey. Thank you for your kind and supportive comments and again I will say it would be great for those of you not yet on Instagram to join so that I can stay more connected .
