1 Peter 2 v 4 - 8 verse wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold , I lay in Sion a chief cornerstone , elect precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded . Unto you therefore believe he is precious: but unto them that be disobedient, the same is made the head of the corner , and a stone of stumbling, even a rock of offence , even to them that stumble at the word …. ( Peter obviously is not speaking of himself , But Jesus that is the cornerstone of the church . ) it’s so important to follow scripture and not men’s doctrine. )
