LoR: Night attack

My second LoR free build of May. Enjoy the story!

It was nightfall before Sir Ian had gathered the rest of his men, mounted up and ridden with the surviving archer, Angus by name, and reached the place where, several weeks before, his men had camped outside the Dunharris gates. "I see you've been busy", said Sir Ian, noting, where once there had been a simple gap in the walls, now stood a hastily constructed fortified gate. "Aye," said Angus. "A few weeks ago we revolted and were able to drive out the Queen's soldiers. Then we quickly fortified the gates for the attack that was sure to come. But the Queen's men came back in much larger force. Some of the fighting men escaped in hopes of retaking the city later, but we were pursued. All were killed except me in a battle, and that's where you came in." "I see." Sir Ian nodded. A plan was quickly formed. Angus, Harrison, Sven, and Ian were to take the main gate and open it for everyone else to charge in. Connor added, "No torches, at least yet. We must preserve the element of surprise as long as possible. We can bring some to light later, though." There was a murmur of assent. The first attack party buckled on helmets and swords, strung bows, and grasped shields. The warriors swiftly but silently snuck through the bushes and snow. The guards at the gates were uneasy. "Dirk, are yeh hearin' something?"

"Ah' dunno. The night shift always makes me jumpy. I heard tell from the regiment near here of a bacon-crazed werewolf around these parts." "Shut up, you." The second guard on the wall snorted as he walked away and hefted his crossbow. The gate guard glanced around again. "Prob'ly just a---ARGH!!" A spear whistled out of the dark and skewered the gate guard, where he dropped, disabled, and moaned in pain. "DIRK!? What 'appened?!" The Garhims grimly rushed out of the bushes. Harrison tossed a grappling hook over the wall. The second guard came running, crossbow raised. "Where did yeh---?" Angus quickly knocked, drew, and fired. The guard toppled with a grunt to the snow-blanketed ground. Sven rushed forward and finished the gate guard with his sword. Harrison was already at the top of the wall. "HEY!! What's goin' on over there?!" said a rough, but distant voice. "Harry, make haste!" SIr Ian urged. several seconds later and the heavy wooden door was opening. The Garhims rushed in, and they heard the sound of footsteps behind as the second body of Garhim troops sped towards the open gate. They were in, but would they successfully take the town?
