This shot is a bit of a cliche' but I love these beautiful western birds. The wonderful calls and the cute little coveys endear them to me. Nothing is more adorable then a covey in the spring, with all the little ones in tow. Lots get eaten by domestic cats. I once read a study in which the outcome was that well fed kitties are still voracious eaters of wild birds.They apparently have lots of time to hunt without the need to provide for themselves.
My mom was a devoted member of the Audibon society yet, as long as I'd known her, she had pet outdoor cats. Unfortunate for the local lizards and birds, but a fond memory indeed.
