S-2T Argentina

São Paulo, September 2002.

Whoosh! The moment the S-2 is launched by the bow catapult. The cable ('holdback') retaining the plane is cut. You can see the pulling cable ('bridle') in front of the main wheels, in the steam cloud. The system used on US carriers is newer and different.

Due to the acceleration the left side of the photo is unsharp.

Interesting to note is that the S-2 has two ship names on the tail: 25 the Mayo and Minas Gerais.

Two Trackers of the Armada Argentina were deployed on the Brazilian carrier NAe São Paulo during Temperex, a joint Brazilian-Argentinian exercise.
