Skansen opened in 1891. The vision of Its founder Artur Hazelius was to preserve for posterity an image of Sweden through the centuries. There are now 140 buildings from all over the country, the oldest dating from the 14th century.
Bollnässtugan (the Bollnäs cottage) is a building from Bollnäs in Dalecarlia. It was originally two 17th century houses, which were joined in the mid-1800's. It belonged to a substantial farm, and was for temporary use as a guest and festivity house.
