Fäbodar, Skansen, Stockholm
Skansen opened in 1891. The vision of Its founder Artur Hazelius was to preserve for posterity an image of Sweden through the centuries. There are now 140 buildings from all over the country, the oldest dating from the 14th century.
These four houses came from Älvdalen in the northern Dalecarlia province. They were co-owned by a number of farmers, built in mountainous areas and were used during the summers, when the animals were brought up from the farms to their summer grazing grounds.
