M57 a planetary nebula
Taken with a Sony a77m2 camera and a Celestron c11 Edge telescope.
M57 was once a star approximately 1600 years ago that used up all its hydrogen, expanded and the outer gaseous shell continued to expand. The central part of the star is called a white dwarf. Even though the remnant, which is very hot and very dense, does not generate more energy. It is in the process of cooling down which may take billions of years.
