Plaxton President 18023
Rounding off a fairly Rounding off a fairly short upload, here’s 18023’s model as it currently looks. Somehow I neglected to take the ‘after’ shots to document its repairs once I’d fitted and painted its replacement windscreen and bumpers, so today I made use of a break in the rain to take it outside for photos.
The last update of it was here, where I explain at length my thoughts about it: www.flickr.com/photos/108834608@N06/54475274424/in/album-...
As you can see I did the windscreen and drew some wipers on. It may be hard to tell but I also did the black masking on the lower edge of the o/s screen but not the n/s one - as per the real 18023 during its time in Lincoln.
Obviously the model depicts the vehicle when it was a Hull bus with the associated branding, but I like to think this is perhaps how it would have been if it'd been preserved, and if you ignore all the Hull-specific elements it's like how I remember it.
Even though I bought this and the Hull ALX400 at the same time, this is by far my favourite of the two. And I think that's mainly down to the fact I've had to partially restore this one myself; although it's imperfect it's just the way I like it. The ALX is packed away in a box somewhere, while 18023 is on the shelf next to me as I write this!
