Moving Day

Saunders' Case Moth (Metura elongatus) larva male

Spotted crossing the footpath (sidewalk) as I walked down to the shops this morning. Looking for a tree or wooden fence to attach itself to.

Case moths spend most of their lives as caterpillars, the larval stage, which may last for up to 1 or 2 years in some species. Once constructed, the female caterpillars never leave their cases.

Of course I didn't have the camera with me so a shot with the phone camera.
