Menhir, Gardom's Edge
Bronze Age menhir, or standing stone, in birch woodlands on Gardom's Edge in the Derbyshire Peak District. The menhir appears to change shape when viewed from different directions. The menhir stands in its original position. Function not known though theories of its use as a "sundial",, or a totem (a "face" can just about be seen when approached from one direction( or calendar, astrological or ritual use.
