This is the pit of an avacado, after making a failed batch of cookies I wanted to see what the pit looked like without the skin, so I rinsed it off and then proceeded to peel off the dark brown skin and then split the pit in half. The inside of the pit was quite un-interesting, being a large expanse with a tine seed down by the bottom. The outside however began to turn a dark brownish red in the places that the pit had been scraped, cut or dropped. I found it quite fascinating. The deep line on the foreward half is where the knife bit into the pit while I was cutting the avacado in half. Afterwards, I noticed a seam in the pit, which is the line that the pit split in half along.
