This is a glass 3.25 inch slide designed for Magic Lanterns, this slide shows Newcastle upon Tyne incorrectly called Newcastle on Tyne in the title "Newcastle-on-Tyne, from Gateshead" taken in the year 1879 by George Washington Wilson of Aberdeen and then painted by hand. This photo was taken long before the more famous Tyne bridge was built (1925-1928) and the buildings to the extreme right were demolished to make way for it
