Little Me
Where did 2 go? And what about 13 for that matter, that was a good year.
I know growing up our family, like many, had issues and dysfunctions but when I look at this photo I think about good times. I suppose I now choose to focus on the good times. Camping at Yankee Springs. Riding my bike around
the hiking trail over and over and over again. My brother was the coolest
with his DMX bike. I idolized him. I remember
us neighborhood kids playing Capture the
Flag till midnight all summer. Timmy’s pool was the best and then later
Timmy’s in-ground pool was even better. Of course his yard was our favorite.
My junior high and highschool years were all about my travel soccer team – Shoreline Shockers. Hot pink jerseys but we were awesome. Where are those trophies anyway? I remember being grateful for having new
Adidas cleats every year. And going through
Hunter’s Safety Course with my dad… I loved it.
I wouldn’t like to pheasant hunt now but
back then having those shared experiences with
him meant a lot. He was happy when doing his
favorite activities. The good things are
so valuable to remember. When I think
about how much I adored these moments
I know what it is I need to provide my own kids.
I know the importance of living life
and enjoying it.
They are the age I am in this photo.
Now is the time.
