Slum Village 4 - Fantastic Vol. 2 (2 U F U)
For my first get pushed challenge, I was partnered with Pleun*
She has lots of nice photos that make me want to travel and I really enjoyed browsing her photos and seeing them evolve. She takes great portraits too.
Originally she challenged me to take a portrait of a child. It's true, I have no pictures of children. But, I need to wait a few days to take pictures of my friends's kids. I was worried about angering some parents. I know I wouldn't want some strange dude taking pictures of my kids.
So, she followed up with a second challange.
"Well now I know you used to work in radio, that gave me the idea for the alternative challenge: make your own cd cover for one of your favorite cd's. How's that?"
How's that?
Great!
I love music. Always have. The hardest thing was choosing an album. I had 4 choices and Decided to use "Slum Village - Fantastic Vol. 2"
I ended up with 4 photos that I thought would make a good album cover.
A Hasselblad 500cm was perfect for this!!! Square format for an automatic record/cd cover.
I wandered around listening to the album on repeat as I shot for inspiration.
My inspirations were. Hip hop, chill vibe, romance, graffiti and slums.
Each picture I paired with my favorite song of the album.

This one was my favorite shot, and my submission for the Get Pushed group.
This project was a lot of fun, and i'll definitely try it again with another album
Thanks for the great challenge Pleun*
