Great Falls Canal Boat Ride in Maryland

Ride along the historic C&O Canal in a boat pulled by mules.

The C&O Canal operated from 1831 to 1924 and served primarily as a means to transport coal.

At the canal's peak, as many as 500 boats a season plied the 184.5-mile (296.9 km) canal, which caused a traffic jam in some area.

The current boat was named after the first President of the canal company, Charles F. Mercer.
