If you would allow theoretical history from an amateur, I am proposing the ancients had an amazing desire to send messages to the Gods in the celestial heavens. The two most prominent ways were to alter their physical surroundings in the shapes of Gods, Goddesses, and Kings/Queen portraits.
I propose that upwards of 12,000 years ago, when South appears to have been the "North", the ancient peoples attempted to shape the bottom of Lake Michigan into the mythological Mother Goddess Isis, nursing a child.
It should be noted that this motivation also gave the King of the Realm a plausible reason to employ his agricultural peoples between the harvest and planting seasons, and also in effect placed an army of farmers on the surrounding limits of his Kingdom who served as protection from neighboring Kingdoms.
I realize these theories completely rewrite all conventional views on our histories, and place organzied, mega human habitats back 20 to 100,000 years before what we call "history" of 3200 BC. These are only my amateur researcher opinions, but the similarities of figures are significant.
