Shaw Centre

720nm Infrared

This is the glass roof on the convention center. A few years ago the city hired a company to replace the glass, solar panels were incorporated.

The photovoltaic array will produce 230,000-kilowatt hours of power per year or 3% of the power the building uses.

A few words from the Pomes for a Small Park: "Gift of a River" are displayed it the photovoltaic panels - they are in Morse Code.

“Beginnings just appear so like a drowsy eye

Suddenly awake where a river wells up

Uncoiling from the ice where snug beside the land

It lay dreaming at our feet in quiet sleep.”

E.D. Blodgett
