Ohio - Themed Art Statues
by scottamus
These community projects usually begin with a common unpainted sculpted base statue of an object, animal or character. Artists then apply paint and other embellishments to give it character. Examples in Ohio that I'm aware of have been corn (Columbus), Brutus Buckeye (Columbus), electric guitars (Cleveland), squirrels (Glendale, Tiffin), planters (Springdale), vases (Zanesville), beavers (Beavercreek), frogs (Toledo), pigs (Cincinnati) and lighthouses (Sandusky). The statues typically have a public display for a few months, after which time the individual statues are auctioned off.
