Having local vine multipliers is important to communities, like Jean Claude's, as they no longer have to travel great distanced to purchase quality OFSP vine. "Previously, farmers used to grow sweetpotato varieties that were not productive and prone to diseases. But now, with OFSP DVMs, they multiply good quality planting seed free from disease, with high yields," he says. Jean Clause is also able to offer casual work to his neighbors, who also benefit from this versatile crop.
