Texas’ Brazos Bend State Park is currently in the grips of its annual plague of Forest Tent Caterpillars.
I really did get a crick in my neck this week hunting for caterpillars in low-hanging branches. I wanted to use natural light because the bokeh from the light filtering through the leaves was beautiful. Unfortunately, the caterpillars were always dark and grainy, so I resorted to using a flash, which obliterated the background. (I have a lot of work to do on my macro skills!) In this shot you can still see the silhouette of a leaf above the caterpillar. HMM!
