OVK 153M at Tynemouth Station
The building of the Metro required that a considerable number of PTE vehicles were required to operate the rail replacement services around the North Tyneside loop. These were generally older vehicles which were due to be replaced, the PTE tending only to keep buses for few years. One such vehicle was OVK 153M which is seen on service R5 outside Tynemouth Station on a service to Central Station shortly after buses had replaced the train service between Newcastle and Tynemouth via Wallsend
