El leopardo africano (Panthera pardus pardus) es la subespecie de leopardo más común que existe. Esta presente en casi toda Africa subsahariana.Los ejemplares machos son más grandes y pesados que las hembras. Son animales muy fuertes capaces de matar presas mucho más pesadas que ellos. Suelen arrastrar sus presas hasta lo alto de árboles para que otros depredadores más numerosos o más fuertes que ellos no se las roben. Normalmente son nocturnos pero son oportunistas y siempre que se les presenta la oportunidad cazan de día.
The African Leopard is the most common leopard subspecies with the least conservation concern. Male leopards are larger and heavier than females. They are very strong and they have been known to carry prey many times their own weight (such as Blue Wildebeest) up into trees to protect the carcass from scavengers. They are nocturnal and usually don’t hunt until dusk. However, they are opportunists and will hunt in the daylight when necessary.
